FRIDAY OLOKOR
At least two persons were feared dead on Saturday when suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked Koachudu village of Miango District in the Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The two victims were said to be travelling home from Jos when the assailants struck around Rafiki village at about 4pm.
The corpses of the deceased were said to have been taken away by soldiers.
The incident happened very close to a checkpoint mounted by the Special Military Taskforce codenamed Operation Safe Haven.
The spokesperson for Miango Youth Development Association, Lawrence Zongo, in a WhatsApp message to SUNDAY PUNCH, said two other persons, identified as Monday Kwa (35) and Michael Talatu (26), who sustained serious injuries had been hospitalised.
Zongo said, “The Fulani terrorists are still attacking our people. The effort of the government is not enough to end these killings as we daily bury our people.”
The spokesperson for the Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, promised to confirm the development from the Divisional Police Officer in Miango District but he had yet to do so as of the time of this report.
