Nigerians, irrespective of their religious beliefs and tribes, have been urged to continue to pray for the manifestation of the desired positive change that would help the nation reclaim its lost glory.
This appeal was made by Reverend (Dr) Joseph Adekunle, while speaking with pressmen shortly after the maiden meeting of the Christians Welfare Initiative (CWI), Ona-Ara Local Government Chapter, Oyo State, held at God Loving Church, Ibadan.
Adekunle, who is the chairman of CWI in Oyo State, and the minister in-charge of the host church, said though the nation had been experiencing series of challenges, ranging from insecurity, economic downturn, corruption, among others, Nigerians needed to be united, as secession would be regrettable.
“As we celebrate 57th year of our experience as an independent nation, Nigeria needs more prayers to remain as one indivisible nation.
“We also need to uphold and strengthen our unity, in order to fulfil the dream of the founding fathers,” he said.
With Reverend Adekunle at the meeting were the chairman of CWI in Ona-Ara Local Government Area, Pastor S.O. Orisalade; a representative of the national chairman of CWI, Archbishop (Prof) Magnus Atilade and several Christian leaders in the area.
The group, numbering more than 120, prayed for the continued peace and progress of Oyo State and Nigeria.
