What's not to love about a French bistro? Located at Musa Yaradua, VI Lagos La Brioche is a French inspired bistro perfect for a heart-warming brunch and breakfast.
We walked into a beautifully decorated white intimate space, which had a selection of French pastries waiting to be bough and a slight “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” vibe. While the room looks pretty, the small space makes it really hard not listen in on other conversations so you might have to whisper through the meal.
“She said it was a spiritual problem,” said an agitated lady who sat with a group of women behind our table. Thankfully, the waiter brought a bread basket with butter, jam and some freshly squeezed juice to keep us company while we listened.
Beatrice:
Buttermilk pancakes with syrup, bacon, sunny-side-up eggs, pork sausages and watermelon juice
On their menu, you have the option of adding some extras, which I did gladly. The buttermilk pancakes usually come with strawberries and syrup but if you’re a protein lover like me, then you’ll need to add some extra sides, which are very affordable! So I got some crispy bacon, sunny side up eggs and pork sausages. The pancakes come in three and they are quite thick and fluffy, they had just the right consistency and the syrup added just right amount of sweetness to it.
Yvonne:
Le Classique - Brioche bread, eggs, bacon, pork sausage, baked beans, avocado and orange juice
The eggs were cooked to my liking (poached), brioche bread was perfectly toasted and not burnt, bacon was a little overcooked but if you like your bacon crispy then this would be perfect for you, the sausages could have been a bit bigger but I guess I’m watching my height!
Verdict
It was a good experience, while the space is a bit too cozy for a group brunch, their customer service was great, the food is super affordable, plus you can get your receipt emailed to you immediately with their iPad. They also have an outside sitting, which looks great but a way too close to the cars parked right in front, so having a meal outside doesn’t seem enticing. On the plus side, it’s a great spot for Instagram worthy pictures as the tables are laid out beautifully, with small flowers, golden cutlery and petite white tablemats.
