Armstrong Bakam, Bauchi
Members of the Bauchi State House of Assembly on Friday screened and confirmed the nomination of Audu Sule Katagum as the deputy governor of the state.
The confirmation exercise, which was less than five minutes, was done during a plenary session presided over by the Speaker, Kawuwa Shehu Damina.
Katagum, an architect, was until his nomination, the Chief of Staff at the Government House.
His nomination followed the sudden resignation of Mr. Nuhu Gidado as the deputy governor.
Shortly after the speaker opened the floor for members to ask questions from the nominee, the member representing Bura constituency, Abdullahi Abdulkadir, moved a motion that the nominee be cleared without much ado “because he is a well known figure in the state both within and outside government.”
The motion was seconded by Ibrahim Katagum representing Katagum constituency, after which his nomination was confirmed.
