AKURE – Otunba Alaba Alabi, Ondo state president of Real Estate Managers Association (REMA), has called on Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant agencies to ensure that the 2019 general elections are clean and credible enough.
Alabi made the call in Akure, the state capital, while inaugurating the newly elected executive committee members of Akure South chapter of the Association.
He said the election that brought in the new officers was credible, free and fair, urging INEC and other critical stakeholders to take a cue from the association while conducting next year’s polls.
“It was our own resolution to make our own election credible, free and fair. It was devoid of inducement, thuggery and harassment.
“We did it perfectly and that is why there is no crisis after the election. Peace always exists where there is fairness, equity and justice.
“I, therefore, call on all relevant agencies that will be involved in the conduct of next year’s elections to take a cue from us and save Nigeria from unnecessary crisis by making the polls clean and credible for all to see,” Alabi said.
He charged the new officers of the chapter to be good representatives of the association anywhere they find themselves and make welfare of their members a priority.
In the election, Adeyemi Olaboyede was elected chairman after scoring 116 votes against 62 votes scored by his opponent, Afolabi Akinyosola.
In his acceptance speech, Adeyemi appealed for the cooperation and support of all members and called for the eradication of quackery in the profession.
