NNEWI – Mr. Peter Obi, former governor of Anambra State and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential running mate to Atiku Abubarkar and his successor, Governor Willie Obiano, are expected to attend the closing of the mass return of indigenes of Unubui community slated for Monday.
The five-day event, usually organised every four years in the town, started on Thursday with the indigenes of the community who came from every part of the world, trouping out to felicitate with each other.
The ceremony commenced with a march pass led by HRM Francis Umenajiego, the traditional ruler of the community, with the procession followed by lighting of the town’s torch as well as cultural displays, music, talent hunt and sporting activities, among others.
Igwe Umenajiego, who spoke on the essence of the ceremony with Dr. Josiah Chidebele Okonkwo, the President General of Unubi Town, as well as Mr. Augustine Chidelue Ike, chairman of the planning committee, said the event was usually organised to promote love, unity and peace among the indigenes.
They said such occasion was usually used to plan for the town’s development by initiating projects that would benefits the people.
Lady Chinwendu Nnadozie, a senior reporter in the Daily Independent Newspaper and Director, Media and Publicity of the event, said the mass return of the indigenes from every part of the world had helped the people to maintain the bond of love among themselves.
