The Ogun State government has said that over 5,000 eligible civil servants due for promotion across the cadres in the state have sat for the year 2016/2017 promotion examinations respectively.
It said the exercise, which took place at the Moshood Abiola University Of Technology, Ojere, Abeokuta, the state capital, was organised by the State Civil Service Commission.
Alhaji Surajudeen Olusesi, Acting Chairman, Civil Service Commission, said the participants consisted of officers seeking promotion to the next grade levels and others seeking for upgrading, adding that the exercise was meant to test the capability of the participating officers and prepare them for the tasks ahead.
He said promotion of civil servants to next grade was not automatic, adding that officers must work harder towards achieving success in the exercise, in order to secure their promotion to the next grade level.
Olusesi hailed the government of Senator Ibikunle Amosun for deeming it fit, especially at this point in time, to endorse the promotion of over 5,000 workers in the state’s civil service.
Mrs. Amope Chokor, Permanent Secretary, Ogun State Civil Service Commission, said the introduction of the Computer Based Test (CBT) for officers on grade level 6 to 10 was to increase their proficiency and productivity in the use of computers, noting that it would also broaden their knowledge and well acquitted with computer.
She said that many officers were not vast in computer, but expressed delight with the exercise, adding that the participants comported themselves in well during the examination.
